Solo Dancing Lessons

Lessons will begin with the basics. Soft shoe dances will be taught first, then the dancer will progress to hard shoe dances. As the dancer improves they will learn more advanced-level dances. Classes are structured to prepare the dancer for competition, however, competition is never required.

  • Soft shoe dances include: Reel, Light Jig, Single Jig, Slip Jig
  • Hard shoe dances include: Hard Jig, Hornpipe, and traditional set dances
  • Dancers can compete in Irish dancing competitions, called feiseanna
  • Dancers start at the Beginner level, then can progress to Advanced-Beginner, Novice, Prizewinner, and then the highest-level called Championship

Ceili (or Team) Lessons

As soon as a dancer masters the basics of soft shoe solo dancing, they will be invited to particpate in ceili (or team) dancing. Ceili dances include anywhere from 2 to 8 dancers. Ceili teams can compete in Irish dancing competitions, called feiseanna, however, competition is never required.
